Welcome to Garlenda!

From the Middle Ages until the nineteenth century, Garlenda experienced a thriving period of development, favored by the beauty of the natural scenery and fertile agricultural land, cultivated mainly with vineyards. The Castle of Garlenda, also known as the Meridiana, was originally a watchtower and later transformed into a residential housing for the gentlemen of the place, the Carretto family. Today, after complete renovation, it is once again open to the public, home to conferences, shows,exhibitions and banquets.

In the 1960s, with the construction of the golf course, new perspectives opened up in Garlenda, especially in tourism. In 1984 the charming town welcomes the birth of the largest single-model Car Club in the world: Fiat 500 Club Italia, with more than 21,000 members and from 2010 "Peace Testimonial for UNICEF".
The traditional International Meeting this year celebrates its 35th edition, welcoming crews from all parts of Italy and the world. To complete the picture remember the numerous accommodation and sports facilities: in addition to the Golf Club, hotels and restaurants of great quality, pizzerias, farmhouses, bowling alley, tennis courts, gym and bike tracks. At the Villafranca Park, the Pro Loco animates a summer season full of events that promote Ligurians food and wine.

Numerous are the paths that cross the valley and that the City of Garlenda has brought back to its former glory. The Municipality adheres to the Association Ancient Vie del Sale and is home to the route of the Liguria Trail, with the aim of offering residents and guests a pleasant and always renewed environment to discover and live.
