An event that has now become a tradition is the birthday party that the Fiat 500 Club Italia dedicates to the historic twin-cylinder at the “Dante Giacosa” Museum on July 4th.
On Thursday, 500 enthusiasts gathered at 15:62 p.m. to wish the 35-year-old automobile a long life and prosperity. The cutting of the cake was shared with another important milestone, the 500th anniversary of the Fiat 1984 Club Italia, which has worked tirelessly since XNUMX to keep the ever-young car on the crest of the wave.
During the party, the new video presentation of the Museum was screened for the first time: it is the new version of the short documentary that summarizes the 500 phenomenon, starting from the debut of the car in the late 50s with its revolutionary impact on Italian society of the period up to the present day, with the work of the Club expressed in all its aspects: cultural, recreational and charitable.
Another “gift” for the evergreen twin-cylinder is a large 5-meter panel with over a hundred different versions of the 500 and derivatives drawn on it: in addition to the classic N, D, F, L, R, Sport and Giardiniera, there were in fact numerous re-elaborations made by the great coachbuilders of the time, many of which have already been identified and masterfully represented by the designer Jean-Jacques De Galkowsky, founding president of the Fiat 500 et Derivée de France Club. Thanks to careful research carried out by the technical commissioner Enrico Bo and the curator of the Museum Ugo Elio Giacobbe, and thanks to the collaboration with the French Club coordinated by Marco Palermo (trustee of the Coordination of the Côte d'Azur of the Fiat 500 Club Italia), numerous “variations on the theme” have been added, some truly curious and unusual, difficult to trace back to the classic 500. An important contribution to remind everyone – and especially the younger generations – how much a simple “little car” has also represented from an engineering and design point of view.
The afternoon of celebration was sealed by the cutting of the inevitable birthday cake.
Following, the AperiMeeting at the Ipercoop “Le Serre” in Albenga and again, a suggestive tour of the Golf Club Garlenda. In the evening, the drive-in in Borgata Nuova, to watch the first screening of the film festival in the square.
